EXPERIENCE SOMETHING OUTSIDE THE NORM

Discover a restorative Practice for soothing the nervous system, healing the soul & relinquishing the past.

A single session of yoga nidra can induce profound, deep, restorative rest that is more powerful than a nap, helping to reset the mind and body while you remain conscious.

Known as a form of Non-Sleep Deep Rest (NSDR), it provides the benefits of deep sleep, such as enhanced learning, reduced stress AND alleviates symptoms of trauma, according to Psychology Today, The Huberman Lab and the International Yoga Journal.
How Does It Work?
Find a comfortable position lying on your back, whether that's on your bed, your yoga mat, or wherever you find yourself. Take a few more moments to make yourself really comfortable. Perhaps you want to cover yourself with a blanket—it often gets a little cold during Yoga Nidra—because as you relax, your blood pressure drops (an added benefit for the seriously stressed). Place a king size pillow or couch cushion under your legs. Roll up a hand towel to support a gentle curvature in your neck. Cover your eyes with another hand towel or an eye pillow to diminish the external stimuli. This is an internal journey towards comfort and ease. Once you've settled into position, let yourself breathe deeply a few times and release any tension as well as anything you cannot change at this moment...

And close your eyes.

  • This is a private zoom call

customized to clear emotionally charged trauma. Perhaps you have had a major life transition, such as a separation, or a surgery, that has left you feeling less confident, or more vulnerable. Whatever issues that come up specific to your situation during the initial discussion will determine the focus of the meditation. Structured to address whatever is going on in your life at the moment, it will be recorded so you can use it over and over again until the issue dissolves, usually within a session or a month. When the issue resolves, we change the focus and give you a new meditation so your meditations stay fresh and are always related to what's really going on with you. • This is a private dyad

with just you and me doing a deep dive into relief from emotional distress. It can work at the level of conscious and/or unconscious overwhelm. The benefit of having a Guide who has walked the path before you and been trained to hold space for you is that it creates a safe container for you to spontaneously heal. Just as your body knows the score, your Pain Body knows how to move through the chaotic emotions if given the right conditions. Be it personal experiences, or world events which have left a slew of emotionally painful memories, this is a wonderful way to clear that stagnant energy. Not everyone has the courage to process the isolation and loss of the last few years. But for those who do, this allows you to do it without talking forever, without side-effects, without the wait or the runaround of conventional disembodied approaches...$50

  • This is a zoom workshop

over 3 hours with practice in pairs which allows you to release trauma and negative emotions without lengthy discussion, painful desensitization, or repetitive sessions. It can often work in a single session to eliminate the bottleneck of pain, so that it moves through you, physically. It's a unique opportunity for shared presence that leaves you feeling open and free of limitation. It fosters connection to universal consciousness. A Dyad Workshop has three stages: an introduction to set the tone for the topic, followed by a live guided practice of iRest Yoga Nidra for awakening inner tranquility, followed by a chance to work in dyads (groups of two) to process what comes up. It is a profound way to relieve pre-verbal emotional distress. Talk therapy is more cerebral. In the Dyad, by contrast, you are free to work with impressions and sensations, allowing them to make no sense to the mind. "Wherever two or more are gathered..." the conscious intent is amplified...$40

FAQ's
life was never meant to be so hard...
  • Why Nurture Yourself?
The values our society emphasizes are 'pain, no gain,' 'power through it,' and 'don't be such a wuss...' This creates shame and discourages people from listening to their own body. At Your Live Matters, the Somatic approach emphasizes compassion, understanding, and tuning IN, not tuning OUT. If you don't listen (through your senses) to your body, it's like disconnecting the dashboard lights in your car and wondering why it ran out of oil.
  • Why A Somatic Approach?
'As above, so below.' Social conditioning, modern medicine and education all program you to think of your mind as separate from your body. There is constant input to treat sensations and feelings as immaterial. The pressure to either be mentally or physically 'strong' trains people to compete when there is no reason to do so. This means you may have tuned out your feelings or distracted yourself from them for so long that the level of tension in your body has grown daily without you being aware of it. Yet, the body is your native home. The mind is a tool for understanding and planning, not a weapon for bludgeoning yourself. The spirit can only even enter into the conversation if you invite it to do so. You do this by relaxing, releasing stress, inviting your body to self regulate by breathing in a way that allows the nervous system to override the stress you've been living in. Only then are you accessing your entire Soma: your whole self. Only then can it heal.
  • Does This Help Regain Sovereignty?
The conventional health care system is about sick-care, not health. It's about outsourcing your authority as if anyone else could know what you've really endured or how bad your symptoms really are. When you enter into the primary care provider rat race, eventually you get an isolated diagnosis for a condition that the insurance industry recognizes as real with a code number. Their goal is to only cover what they can sell and to keep you on the teat, dependent on outside 'experts.' The goal of Somatics, on the other hand, is to restore your ability to notice what works and what doesn't, to give you back the agency you have been socialized to outsource. In other words, the goal is to create the perfect environment for you to regain a connection with your own True North. Inner Wisdom is a natural response to what you have lived, but only
  • What is a Dyad Day?
We offer a unique workshop, lovingly referred to as, "Dyad Day," that implements the ancient practice of the dyad, which is a way to move stuck emotions, and resistance, and to process the breach in consciousness that is occurring globally due to the recent years of manipulation of the public, the media, technology & the health of nations. It is a direct experience in the non-dual nature of awareness to resolve painful emotions. It works by recentering attention back to sensations, which allows them to morph, shift,
move through and beyond the physical body. It's like giving a voice to the impressions the body experiences when confronted with the kind of non-verbal shock or trauma that happens faster that thought.
  • What is the Workshop Format?
The Peace Starts Within Workshop has three stages: an introduction to set the tone for the topic, followed by a live guided practice of iRest Yoga Nidra for awakening inner tranquility, followed by a chance to work in dyads (groups of two-four) to facilitate the processing of emotional trauma.
  • What Can I Expect From the Dyad Day?
During a Dyad Day workshop, you can expect that space is held to nurture a sense of presence, safety & connection. Wherever two or more are gathered to engage in restorative practices, the transformative power of inner awakening is magnified. An additional layer of healing is added by virtue of the way each one of us is helped in the process of helping others...

Hello, I'm Gabrielle Pullen
My Beautiful Daughter is My Catalyst For Social & Spiritual Change

In 2011, I got the call that broke my heart, even though I had been doing this work since 2007. She was in ICU. They didn't know if she would make it.

Turns out her "friends" were downstairs in the living room partying while she was upstairs dying of a drug overdose. I felt my body go into shock. I witnessed how my mind re-evaluated everything I ever believed in. I succumbed to complete powerlessness as I observed my entire world crumbling. My purpose, my identity and my relationship with everyone altered forever in the blink of an eye.

My beautiful daughter was just about to graduate from the University of Oregon. The loss destroyed my relationship of seventeen years - as the loss of a child usually does. It led me to suffer, but out of a misplaced loyalty. Eventually, I realized it was a way of holding on, when I needed to let her go, if only for her sake, so her soul could be free.
It took seven years, but ultimately I was able to claw myself out of that dark place. I decided a few things that give Intention Momentum:

1. There are no resources for that level of intimate trauma (grief is not the same). I could remedy that.
2. No one should ever have to suffer that much & I was doing so out of a misplaced sense of loyalty. It didn't work.
3. Ilonna would not want me to suffer. She was joyous, funny and mischievous. It's what she would want for me.
4. My relationship with her - in the NOW - was characterized by pain, not love. I could change that.
5. One of the most obvious ways to get help is to help others, if only a few steps behind on the same path.

My background and training made it possible for me to reach deep within myself, revitalize the inner resources that I had been teaching and refining for years, and make them available for others from this new vantage point. This horrific experience that puts any parent, or any adult who has lost a parent as a child, or anyone who has lost an intimate partner in a club that no one in their right mind would ever want to be a part of. Hence, it makes sense to stop trying to act like the rest of the world. Things are different for you now.

If you belong to this club (albeit unwillingly), things will never be the same. But that's not the same as what society tells you: that you will never heal. You will suffer forever. They want you to go away and shut yourself up in a dark room where you won't remind them of the fragility of life. You scare them. They don't know what to say.

Yet, if you reach for the mystery of living so closely with a reality only thinly veiled from the other side, you enter into an inner wisdom that all are called to, but few have the courage to face. Let's face it together. You will never regret taking your consciousness away from the mundane and focusing it on the collective power of universal consciousness.
